Central Carmel Kitchen Renovation | Summer 2023
Our clients recently moved into a beautiful established neighborhood in Carmel. With a toddler, a puppy, and a baby on the way, they were looking to make their home more inviting and functional. They enjoy hosting family and friends, and on his days off, my client loves to cook. However, the kitchen didn’t have enough storage, and the layout didn’t flow well for entertaining or managing their busy household.
Design Goals
We focused on transforming the main living areas to be more functional and family-friendly, with a particular emphasis on the kitchen. Here are some of the key updates:
- Kitchen Overhaul: We renovated the kitchen to add a second full-size dishwasher (perfect for cleaning up after guests), a large pantry, and ample storage for pots, pans, and kitchen tools. Plus a “Costco door” for those large grocery store runs! The design also includes a beautiful handmade galvanized hood with gold trim from a local artisan.
- Coat Closet: To address the lack of storage in the home’s entry, we converted a small powder room into a much-needed coat closet. (Don’t worry – there’s another full bath nearby to serve as the powder room.)
- Wood Flooring: We refinished the wood floors throughout the main level, extending new wood flooring into the study.
- Pantry & Storage Space: We turned a small hallway between the kitchen and dining room into a practical pantry/storage space, and we added a “Costco door” from the garage into the kitchen for easy access.
- Simplified Garage Entry: To streamline the flow of the home, we removed one of the two doors leading from the garage, leaving just one easy-to-access entry point.
