Interior Design for Model Homes: A Journey Through the Terraces in Westfield

This fall, Nested Spaces had the incredible opportunity to furnish two of the Terraces model homes- The Wells and The Elston.  We chose furnishings that would make the properties feel spacious.  The Terraces in Westfield offer beautifully finished custom garden homes and maintenance-free living.  This Estridge community is designed with a focus on amenities and gatherings.

Model Homes and Our Design Experience

Our goal was to create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also evoke a sense of spaciousness, serenity, and warmth. “We wanted both properties to feel spacious for entertaining, living, and gathering, so our larger furniture pieces were neutral and we added color through textiles in rugs, pillows, and throws as well as artwork,” says Whitney Vredenburgh, owner of Nested Spaces.  “Estridge has a high quality and custom product that we love working with.”

Here’s how we achieved it.

Living Spaces

We started with the main living spaces, choosing neutral palettes to enhance the natural light accompanied by earth tones like sage and camel.  Warm, beiges, and whites were our go-to colors, paired with rich textures and plush furnishings. We added color through artwork, pillows, and throws, giving the spaces a lively yet sophisticated look.

Loft Area

One of our favorite secondary living spaces was the loft area in the Elston model. We used a sectional with the thought that this was an important second family room for the owners and we wanted to have as much seating and comfort as possible. We added 3D art to the wall (not photographed) and showcased the size and functionality of the space.

Bedrooms

In the bedrooms, our focus was on creating a retreat-like atmosphere. We used soft textiles of varying sizes and textures, layered with artwork, decor and lighting.  The bedrooms have muted colors and tones. This creates a relaxing backdrop from navy to muted teal to blush, we carried hints of color throughout.

Thoughtfully selected accessories and greenery brought life and color into these intimate spaces.
